Film Review-“A Perfect Candidate”
“A Perfect Candidate”
A real-life character, Don Baker of the Washington Post, is introduced early on in the documentary as the reporter assigned by his paper to follow the 1994 U.S. Senate campaign in Virginia between Democratic incumbent Charles Robb and Republican challenger Oliver North. We also get a lot of insight of this election and elections in general from a rather candid political campaign manager (for Ollie North) named Mark Goodin.
Take your choice of either perspective to write your paper:
1. Write a 300 word story (in your name) for the Washington Post as though your were Don Baker telling the readers the morning after the election who won the election and why.
2. Or (but not both), take the perspective of North campaign manager Mark Goodin and write in 300 words what you would done differently for your guy to win the election instead of losing it.
Format:
300 words, double-spaced; 12 font Courier or New York; one-inch margins top, bottom, sides. Cover page with your name, course (GOVT 2301), section (class day and time), and movie title (in italics).
