Paper—An Inconvenient Truth
Watch the acclaimed
documentary film An Inconvenient Truth (2006). You are a
congressional staffer responsible for writing speeches. You are to write a speech on global
warming in response to the Gore film for your elected employer to deliver on
the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives that will be televised on C-SPAN
to a national audience and entered into the Congressional Record.
Your paper can take one
of three different routes:
For Representative SUV
Horsepower (R-8th Texas), you are going to debunk the global warming ÒmythÓ
point for point as shown in An Inconvenient Truth.
For Representative Hybrid
Vehicle (D-6th Massachusetts), you are going to state point for point how
the former Vice President is justified in his concerns about global warming and
how his stated solutions perhaps do not go far enough to address the crisis.
For Representative
Milquetoast Moderate (D-7th Tennessee), you are going to agree in part with
the points made in the film and disagree in other part with other parts because
of perhaps concerns with the economic consequences.
Be sure to conclude your paper
with a paragraph that contains your opinion on global warming.
Support
your position with scenes from the film.
